Summer is already here, so are the oily skins, high UV lights, and sunburns. You can choose from an abundance of cosmetic products to help you combat the summer, or you can make your summer products in an all-natural, inexpensive way. When it comes to maintaining and protecting your skin in the summer, Shea butter is the most effective substance in the world.
Extracted from the African Shea tree, shea butter is naturally rich in vitamins A, E, and F. It offers UV protection (it is SPF ~6) and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production. 100% Pure Shea Butter is a whole natural source of wellness with no added additives and not tested on animals.
Shea butter is called “super food” for the skin because of its ability to moisturize the skin. It is completely usable all by itself or combines with other beneficial ingredients to create a homemade lotion. For a simple aromatic body lotion, prepare:
2 tablespoon of shea butter
1 tablespoon and natural coconut oil
2 tablespoon of olive oil
10 – 20 drops of any essential oil (Lavender, Rose, and geranium are good choices here)
Mix all the ingredients in a glass bowl placed inside boiling water. When they melt, add the essential oils. The essential oils bring intense aroma and extra benefits. Pour into a lotion tube or container, and leave to cool.
Removing Stretch Marks
If you are worried about your stretch marks, you can massage the stretch mark areas with a shea butter mix by prepare:
1/4 cup of shea butter
1/4 cup of olive oil
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of sea salt
10 drops of essential oil
Place shea butter in a large bowl and beat until creamy. Gradually add the olive oil until fully incorporated. Stir in sugar, sea salt, and essential oils. Transfer to a container with a lid.
Summer time means sweating, lots of sweating. Most deodorants are full of chemicals, but there is always the option to go for all natural ingredients. The process can be as simple as preparing:
3 teaspoon of baking soda
3 teaspoon of coconut oil
2 teaspoon of shea butter
2 teaspoon of arrowroot powder
A few drops of essential oil (optional, tea tree, patchouli, rosemary, lavender or bergamot essential oil would work well)
Mix the baking soda, arrowroot powder, and shea butter, add coconut oil until moist. Store in a clean glass jars with lid. When you need, just rub a little using your finger.
